Volunteer with us
Volunteers play a vital role within First4Adoption by answering calls and emails on our Information Line.
If you have personal experience of adoption, ideally through adopting a child, live within reasonable travel distance of our London office, and can offer a regular 3-4 hour shift between 10am-6pm Monday-Friday, you may wish to volunteer as an information line volunteer. This involves responding to telephone calls, emails and providing information and encouragement to potential adopters.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who can volunteer in the afternoons, though we welcome all enquiries.
Information Line Volunteer
Information Line volunteers respond to telephone calls and written enquiries (email) from people interested in adopting a child in England. We receive a wide variety of enquiries, and we also offer information about finding post-adoption support. If you have a warm and empathetic telephone manner combined with a good standard of spoken and written English, we are happy to provide you with training and support to be on the ‘front line’ of our information service, as well as pay your expenses. You’ll be responding to enquiries from potential adopters anywhere in England (and sometimes beyond). We’ll make sure you are up-to-date with the latest adoption information and provide you with the training and support you need. Your personal experience as an adopter gives you a head start in understanding the emotions and questions that callers have, helping them to feel at ease and encouraging them to pursue their interest in adoption. Information line volunteers also undertake mystery shopping, and may choose to contribute to our service in other ways, such as reviewing information or writing blogs.
