First4Adoption marks quarter of a million users with launch of new materials for National Adoption Week

3 November 2014

Figures released today have revealed that First4Adoption has helped a quarter of a million people begin their adoption journey since we launched in January 2013. This news coincides with the launch of our new range of recruitment marketing materials available free of charge for use by adoption agencies. Commissioned by the Department for Education and developed in collaboration with media agency, Kindred, these materials include: a guide to recruitment marketing, press, digital and radio ads, posters, leaflets and hand-outs, template press releases and social media content. All resources are available via our website in the ‘Professionals’ section.

Children and Families Minister Edward Timpson, who has two adopted brothers, said: “It’s great news to see this important campaign getting off the ground as a direct result of the government’s investment – finding and helping thousands of potential adopters across the country. With thousands of children still waiting for a loving home, it’s vital we continue to do all we can to recruit new parents who can meet their needs through adoption”.

Gemma Gordon-Johnson, Head of Service at First4Adoption explains: “Reaching a quarter of a million users is a significant marker in the growth of First4Adoption and we’re delighted to have been able to help point the way for so many potential adopters. We want this campaign to mark a new era in the recruitment of adopters. In recent years, there have been important improvements in the adoption system that has made it easier to place children with families as quickly as possible. But there is still more to be done. We need more people to come forward and start their adoption story if the needs of all children, for who adoption is the best option, are going to be met.”
