Who we are

First4Adoption is the national information service for people interested in adopting a child in England.

The service is a partnership managed by the charities Coram Children’s Legal Centre, Adoption UK and Coram and is supported and funded by the Department for Education.

Coram Children’s Legal Centre is the largest provider of free legal support for children in the UK and is part of the Coram charity group.

Adoption UK was formed in 1971 and is a national charity that works with and on behalf of adoptive parents, prospective adopters and carers, offering support before, during and after adoption.

Coram has been creating better chances for children since 1739 and has more than 40 years’ experience of providing adoption services for children and their adoptive parents.

The Department for Education is the government department responsible for adoption in the UK. It is committed to improving the adoption process, including the training and assessment of prospective adopters, for the benefit of children and adoptive parents.
