Lincolnshire is an outstanding rated adoption service with a strong track record of supporting prospective adopters throughout the process and after the order is granted.
Which children are awaiting adoption?
At this time we are particularly interested in adopters who can look after:
- A group of siblings: A lot of children needing an adoptive family are part of a group of brothers and sisters. It is important to us to try and keep brothers and sisters together to maintain their family bond.
- Disabled children: We need adopters who can look after children with physical and / or learning disabilities. In these cases we always ensure adoptive families have relevant information and support to help meet the needs of the child.
- Children with emotional and behavioural needs: Some children will have experienced neglect and / or abuse which can often result in emotional and behavioural issues. They will need adoptive families who are sensitive to their needs and who are able to help them achieve their potential.
- Children who are placed under our Foster to Adopt scheme: Foster to Adopt is an arrangement whereby adopters are also approved as foster carers. This allows children who need to be in local authority care, and are likely to be adopted, to be temporarily placed under a fostering arrangement. Foster to Adopt carers are emotionally resourceful people who are able to put the needs of very vulnerable children first by managing the uncertainty.
Our preparation and assessment process is designed to help you gain an understanding of children’s needs and we offer continued support throughout the adoption process and beyond.
At the moment we have sufficient adopters for single children aged three years and under and are not recruiting for this age group at present, except for those interested in the Foster to Adopt scheme. We will keep the situation under review and will update our website and profile on First4Adoption when the position changes.
