Our children range from babies to school aged children. We are particularly keen to speak to people interested in keeping brothers and sisters together and who have the skills and experience to offer a family to children with additional needs and disabilities.

Adopters for Adoption (AfA) is a voluntary adoption agency set up in April 2014 to have a positive impact on the way people are supported to become adoptive parents and help transform the adoption process, reducing delay for both children and adopters. It was created after Core Assets – The Children’s Services Group was awarded a grant by the Department for Education to set up one of three new voluntary adoption agencies as part of the government driven adoption reform agenda.

Adopters for Adoption seek to provide a transformational service, delivering a positive and rewarding experience for the prospective adopter and children. Our agency’s vision and service is informed by real life adopters who play an important part in the running of the agency.

We’re committed to increasing the numbers of adopters for children who are waiting in particular those who are harder to place and often wait the longest, including children over four, sibling groups and children with disabilities. Many people who have thought about adopting are put off by the process, the length of time it takes and misinformation about who can and can’t adopt. We’re committed to making the experience positive for prospective adopters and dispelling the myths that surround adoption and lack of awareness amongst potential adopters of their eligibility to adopt.

Our staff are experienced adoption social workers who draw down on the latest research and best practice. They help and guide adopters from the outset of their journey and provide lifelong support to help increase adoption rates and achieve successful outcomes for both children and those looking to adopt. In our first year, we have successfully approved a diverse range of adopters and placed a number of children with new families.

Specialism

As part of the Core Assets group, we combine over 20 years’ experience of achieving exceptional outcome for children and families via fostering and children services. Our agency has local offices throughout England and is designed and set up to work with adopters regardless of where you live. Our advisory group is made up of members who have been adopted and also adopters whose children range in age from 2 to 32 years old which means we have first-hand knowledge of adoption and informs how we are run.

Adoption Support

We offer therapeutic support and counselling to support the child and adoptive family in what can sometimes be a difficult period of adjustment.

We can deliver comprehensive therapeutic support – before and after the adoption order – to ensure adopters, children and families are supported every step of the way. Our therapeutic service is already ensuring the ongoing stability of a number of adoptive families across England. We have therapists trained in Dynamic Developmental Psychotherapy, Theraplay, Dramatherapy, Art Therapy and Family Therapy who are available currently to work with Adoptive Families. All of our therapists are qualified, registered and either accredited or working towards accreditation. All therapists receive their own clinical supervision.

We’re currently working with Authorities across the country to advise and support in regionalising adoption services. We also provide consultations and assessments to assist with evaluating the needs of the adopter and child/ren for post-adoption support and look at how best to maximise the recently announced adoption support fund. This means that adopters with complex and challenging children can be more easily identified and supported. Our extensive experience means we know how to work with these adoptive families to offer them the best therapeutic services available.

Coventry, Solihull, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Herefordshire.

Adoption Central England (ACE) brings together the expertise of five adoption services (Coventry, Herefordshire, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire) to increase the range of services for adoptive families in the region. We will provide:

• Services in relation to therapeutic needs of a child
• The Adopter’s Mentoring Service

North West

Adoption Now combines the local authority adoption services for six areas in the North West of England -Blackburn with Darwen, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Tameside, Oldham working in partnership with two voluntary adoption agencies, Caritas Care and Adoption Matters.

We are placing more children than any other North West agency (around 200 per year) and we welcome adopters able to consider children of all ages from anywhere in the North West.

Our core purpose is to deliver a:

• high quality, child-centred, and efficient family finding service for children who have a plan for adoption;
• robust, responsive and sensitive adopter approval service for prospective adopters in Lancashire and Greater Manchester;
• highly skilled and professional support service for adopters, adopted children, adopted adults and birth parents.

We welcome prospective adopters from diverse backgrounds and offer sensitive and supportive assessments from our team who are as diverse as our waiting children and adoptive families. We particularly welcome enquiries from people of Asian and African heritage. We have developed a good working relationship with the Muslim Welfare Institute, Lancashire Council of Mosques and the Council of Mosques within each of our authorities in order to better support our Muslim adopters.

We strongly encourage members of the LGBTQ community to consider adopting with us. We offer free membership to New Family Social as standard, to provide additional support through your adoption journey.

In addition all adopters will be linked to a mentor to support them through their adopter journey, ensuring they feel well prepared and supported from the early days of their assessment through to approval and beyond. ARC Adoption North East is an Independent Adoption Agency with an exceptionally experienced team. Collectively, we have worked for over 200yrs in the field, assessing prospective adopters and finding families for children. We aim to recruit over 40 adoptive families a year to greatly increase the opportunities for children to experience family life. We will also use our expertise to provide adopters who can consider fostering to adopt arrangements in order to minimise the moves for children as their plan evolves towards adoption.

Aspire Adoption was one of the first Regional Adoption Agencies to be set up in England, and provides adoption and special guardianship services for the local authorities of Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset. We work in partnership with Families For Children, a local Voluntary Adoption Agency.

Aspire Adoption provides opportunities for new ways of working to minimise delay for prospective adopters in being assessed and for children in being matched quicker with their new family. Aspire Adoption has brought together the best practices from each local authority and the expertise, skills and experience of staff from all across the region under one roof.

We have teams of experienced social workers, focusing on specialist areas of work. The adoption assessment team supports prospective adopters through the family finding and matching process through to an Adoption Order. They work closely with the Family Finding, Matching & Placement Team. The workers from this team are linked with all of the children across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset needing adoptive families. The workers work directly with the children, getting to know them and helping to prepare them for their move to their forever family. They also work closely with the Aspire Adoption and Special Guardianship Support team to ensure that you and your child are supported in the years ahead.

Barnardo’s is a well-established voluntary adoption agency. The service recruits, trains and approves adoptive families from within a 50-mile radius of its service base. The service also provides adoption support, both post-placement and post-adoption, to adoptive families approved by Barnardo’s, and the children placed with them. It is a child-focused service which delivers good outcomes for children. The agency as a whole places a high priority on safeguarding.

We cover the entire Yorkshire, North East and North West areas of England, including the Humber, North Lincolnshire Northumberland, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Durham, Cumbria, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside, including Liverpool.

Adopt East is a Regional Adoption Alliance which brings together the professionalism, skills and expertise of eight local authorities (Norfolk County Council, Suffolk County Council, Essex County Council, Southend Council, Thurrock Council, Hertfordshire County Council, Luton Borough Council, Bedford Borough Council), two voluntary adoption agencies (Barnardo’s, Adoptionplus) from across the East of England and the voice of adopters through Adoption UK. By working collaboratively, we are able to share best practice and increase matching opportunities for children and adopters. This means avoiding any unnecessary delay in the making of your new family and ensuring support is central.

We are recruiting adopters who can meet the needs of our children. The children waiting need parents who can offer something special and if you feel you can meet their needs, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for:

We welcome applications from Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas within a 50 mile radius but within reasonable travelling distance, including Peterborough, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and parts of Norfolk

In 2014 Cambridgeshire County Council entered into a partnership where Coram to provide the Adoption Service- Coram Cambridgeshire Adoption. After 5 years, the Adoption Service transitioned to the local authority whilst maintaining the same approach and service for families.

We encourage all potential adopters to contact us, particularly those who could adopt children over 5, sibling groups, children with additional needs or children from mixed heritage backgrounds and those interested in early Permanence and we will support throughout their adoption journey from assessment, to placement and beyond.

Concurrent carers perform the role of foster carer while the courts decide whether or not a child can return to its birth family. During this time the children will need to see their parents regularly and the concurrent carers will need to support the birth family’s efforts to regain the care for their child.

4+ Years (Future Families for Children)
Future Families for Children is a different way of finding loving, secure, permanent families for very vulnerable children of primary school age. The carers are approved as both foster carers and adopters, and are given preparation and training to ensure they are ready for this exciting challenge.

There are thousands of children across the UK, many living in the North West, who are waiting for that special family to which they can belong. Many of these children are waiting because they are older (i.e. over 4 years), part of a sibling group, from minority ethnic communities or have special needs, either physical or emotional.

Coram IAC is the UK’s only specialist intercountry adoption agency.

We operate both intercountry and domestic adoption programmes. The intercountry adoption service is open to prospective adopters from across the UK where your home local authority contracts with Coram IAC and you are eligible under law.

The agency works with any country open to the UK and we have special programmes with India, South Africa, The Philippines, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and China (for special needs children). These programmes allow Coram IAC to oversee all steps of the process with our partner agencies. The domestic adoption service is open to prospective adopters already working with Coram IAC only who may undergo conversion from intercountry to domestic, or who are adopting again via the agency.
