Adoption Now combines the local authority adoption services for six areas in the North West of England -Blackburn with Darwen, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Tameside, Oldham working in partnership with two voluntary adoption agencies, Caritas Care and Adoption Matters.

We are placing more children than any other North West agency (around 200 per year) and we welcome adopters able to consider children of all ages from anywhere in the North West.

Our core purpose is to deliver a:

• high quality, child-centred, and efficient family finding service for children who have a plan for adoption;
• robust, responsive and sensitive adopter approval service for prospective adopters in Lancashire and Greater Manchester;
• highly skilled and professional support service for adopters, adopted children, adopted adults and birth parents.

We welcome prospective adopters from diverse backgrounds and offer sensitive and supportive assessments from our team who are as diverse as our waiting children and adoptive families. We particularly welcome enquiries from people of Asian and African heritage. We have developed a good working relationship with the Muslim Welfare Institute, Lancashire Council of Mosques and the Council of Mosques within each of our authorities in order to better support our Muslim adopters.

We strongly encourage members of the LGBTQ community to consider adopting with us. We offer free membership to New Family Social as standard, to provide additional support through your adoption journey.

ARC Adoption North East is an Independent Adoption Agency with an exceptionally experienced team. In 2014 Cambridgeshire County Council entered into a partnership where Coram to provide the Adoption Service- Coram Cambridgeshire Adoption. After 5 years, the Adoption Service transitioned to the local authority whilst maintaining the same approach and service for families.

As well as offering a traditional adoption service and adoption support, we are excited to be offering alternative ways to adopt for 0 – 4 years (Concurrent Planning Service) and 4+ years (Future Families for Children Service).

0 – 4 years (Concurrent Planning)
Concurrent Planning is for babies and young children under 4 in care who are likely to need adoption, but who still have a chance of being reunited with their birth family. Concurrent carers perform the role of foster carer while the courts decide whether or not a child can return to its birth family. During this time the children will need to see their parents regularly and the concurrent carers will need to support the birth family’s efforts to regain the care for their child.

4+ Years (Future Families for Children)
Future Families for Children is a different way of finding loving, secure, permanent families for very vulnerable children of primary school age. The carers are approved as both foster carers and adopters, and are given preparation and training to ensure they are ready for this exciting challenge.

There are thousands of children across the UK, many living in the North West, who are waiting for that special family to which they can belong. Many of these children are waiting because they are older (i.e. over 4 years), part of a sibling group, from minority ethnic communities or have special needs, either physical or emotional.

Coram is an established voluntary adoption agency that has been meeting the needs of children who cannot stay with their birth families for more than 40 years. Coram IAC is the UK’s only specialist intercountry adoption agency.

We operate both intercountry and domestic adoption programmes. The intercountry adoption service is open to prospective adopters from across the UK where your home local authority contracts with Coram IAC and you are eligible under law.

The agency works with any country open to the UK and we have special programmes with India, South Africa, The Philippines, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and China (for special needs children). These programmes allow Coram IAC to oversee all steps of the process with our partner agencies. The domestic adoption service is open to prospective adopters already working with Coram IAC only who may undergo conversion from intercountry to domestic, or who are adopting again via the agency.

Our child-centric approach means we provide the highest possible standards of care in line with their individual needs.
