First4Adoption to appear at Alternative Parenting Show17 September 2013
First4Adoption is taking part in the Alternative Parenting Show this Saturday in London. Dr Carol Homden CBE, CEO of children’s and adoption charity Coram, which is part of the consortium of charities that runs First4Adoption, will be appearing at the show to talk about the adoption process. Dr Homden will be joined by Gemma Gordon-Johnson, Head of Service at First4Adoption.
Gemma Gordon-Johnson said: “Adoption can be a very successfully route to creating a family for many people considering alternative forms of parenting. Whether you are single, gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender, and also if you are over 40, you can apply to adopt a child in England. We hope that people attending the show will be inspired to come forward to offer a loving home to one of the 4,500 children currently waiting to be adopted in this country.”
The Alternative Parenting Show provides information and the opportunity to meet experts in an informal setting to same-sex and heterosexual couples, and single men and women, on different ways to form a family. The show will include advice from leading experts in a range of areas including surrogacy, fertility, co-parenting, fostering and adoption.
Dr Carol Homden CBE has been invited to sit on the panel of a seminar entitled ‘Adoption: The Law Procedure and Practice’, along with Anne-Marie Hutchinson OBE and Barbara Connolly QC. The seminar, which is one of the show’s most popular events, will cover what is involved in the adoption process and how to best navigate it. The seminar begins at 12.30 and tickets cost £3. Early booking is recommended.
Adoption advisors will also be on hand at the First4Adoption stand to answer your questions and to give out information about adopting.
The Alternative Parenting Show will be held on Saturday 21st September at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5DA. Tickets to the show cost £8 and can also be booked in advance via www.alternativeparenting.co.uk or purchased on the day.
