Coram works across London in partnership with seven local authorities (including Bromley, City of London, Harrow, Hillingdon, Redbridge, Slough and Waltham Forest) to deliver the new regional adoption agency, Ambitious for Adoption. We bring together shared expertise to help more children find the security of an adoptive family.
Coram is an established voluntary adoption agency that has been meeting the needs of children who cannot remain with their birth families for more than 40 years. There are many children needing permanent families, of different ages, different cultural backgrounds and different needs and we aim to recruit a diverse group of adopters who can provide these children with forever families.
Our experienced team of adoption social workers are happy to speak to people who are interested in adopting a child at whatever point they are in their adoption journey and think with them about what it will mean to become an adoptive parent. Coram has an excellent programme of preparation for adopters which is very much valued by participants. An allocated social worker will support you though the assessment and be there to assist you with identifying the right child for your family.
We are committed to supporting prospective adopters and adoptive parents actively and provide excellent adoption support services for our families including a 12-week Parenting Skills course during the first year after a placement, as well as a further course for parents of adolescents, access to creative therapies and support with accessing CAMHS, SEND services and other support.
