Government publishes latest plans for children’s social care reform

4 July 2016

The Government has today revealed further details of the forthcoming changes to the children’s social care system. A new policy paper, ‘Putting Children First: delivering our vision for excellent children’s social care’, sets out the programme of reform to children’s social care for the next 4 years.

‘Adoption: a vision for change’, published in March 2016, set out the government’s plans for a radical redesign of the adoption system in order to “provide a permanent home through adoption for every child whose interests are best served by this”. The new paper reiterates this pledge, the Government’s plans to regionalise children’s services and the changes to the training and management of social workers working in adoption and foster care.
